Project Summary
Charlotte-Douglas International is one of the busiest airports in the world and serves as a major hub for American Airlines. The maintenance facility for American has two massive parking lots for employees plus two smaller parking lots that required asphalt repair and sealcoating.
The biggest challenge for American was finding a partner that could handle detailed logistics because shutting down operations was simply not an option for this 24-hour facility. We divided the project into smaller phases so that the airline maintenance schedule never needed to stop or slow-down.

Executing The Project
PHASE 1: CLEAR DEBRIS
Every sealcoating project begins with a thorough cleaning. All debris was removed from the parking lots and large rolling fans were brought in to blow away dirt particles from the surface.
PHASE 2: CRACK FILLING & ASPHALT REPAIR
We filled parking lot cracks with a rubber compound to help prevent future water damage. There were also two small areas on-site that needed asphalt removal and replacement at a depth of 3-inches.
PHASE 3: SEALCOATING
Two layers of sealcoat was applied to protect the asphalt from water, oil, gasoline and ultraviolet rays. The American Airlines Maintenance Facility was up-and-running during every phase of the sealcoating process.
PHASE 4: FRESH LINES
Painting fresh lines across more than 200,000 square feet of parking lot takes some time but our crews worked efficiently to get the job done fast for a beautiful finish.
First-Class Logistical Solution
The folks at American Airlines know a thing or two about flying first-class, so it was only fitting that Diamond deliver a first-class logistical solution for this sealcoating project.
