University of South Carolina Kicks Off Football Season With Fresh Sealcoating
Project Summary
You don't need to be a sports fan to appreciate the enormous scale of college football facilities. These stadiums (and surrounding parking lots) are huge! The University of South Carolina needed routine asphalt maintenance work completed across more than a quarter-million square feet of surface.
This is one of those projects where the turnaround time was tight. The work needed to be completed before the college football season kicked off. Diamond quickly mobilized our crews to make sure the job was done right and completed ahead of schedule.
Executing The Project
PHASE 1: CLEANING
High-powered blowers and wire brooms were used to remove sand, dirt and debris from the parking lot surface.
PHASE 2: SEALCOATING
Asphalt sealcoat was applied across more than 250-thousand square feet of surface spanning three primary zones.
- Stadium East Ground Concourse
- North Premium Parking Lot
- South Premium Parking Lot
Special attention was given by crews to ensure the concrete car stops within the parking lots were not impacted during the sealcoat application.
PHASE 3: FRESH LINES
Both parking lots were painted with fresh lines.
This phase included multiple ADA stalls and traffic direction markings.
Sealcoating Touchdown
The premium parking lots surrounding Williams-Brice Stadium are looking "premium" again and the East Ground Concourse received the attention needed to help protect that asphalt surface for another year.
The bright lights, TV cameras and football play-by-play announcers certainly won't be focused on the upgraded asphalt surfaces but we think Gamecock fans will notice!
